Citizens who saw 9 stray dogs with their feet tied together in the dump area at the entrance of Sofular Village of Ürgüp district informed the gendarmerie. The gendarmerie teams who came to the scene determined that the dogs whose feet were tied died.
Gendarmerie started an action to arrest the person or persons involved in the incident. Dogs allegedly killed by poisoning were buried by the Special Provincial Administration teams.

Animal lovers reacted to the incident. Anatolian Animal Rights Federation Provincial Representative Sevinç Dörtkol, “We came to the scene after the citizens living in the village reached us. Unfortunately, we encountered a painful scene here. The dogs were tied up and poisoned. The dogs filed a criminal complaint to the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor. We will follow the issue.”
