Melek İpek (31), mother of 2 children, who was arrested for killing her husband of 12 years, who allegedly battered and handcuffed herself in Antalya, appeared before the judge for the first time today. At the first hearing, it was decided that İpek’s detention would continue. Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Melek İpek’s lawyer Ahmet Onaran said that they held the first hearing of Melek İpek at the Antalya 3rd High Criminal Court.
“WE HEARED A TEAM TRUTH FOR THE FIRST TIME THERE AND WE ARE SHOCKED”
Underlining that it was a long hearing, Onaran said, “The court committee took the defense of Melek, including the chairman and the members, very carefully and meticulously. Witnesses were heard. A hearing day was given to April 2. It was decided that Melek should be tried in custody. We believe that Melek İpek was forced to commit this crime and left within the scope of legitimate defense, whatever our belief in the first day. Very good information and documents will be on file at the hearing to be held on April 2. Two children of Melek, who are the only eyewitnesses of the event, will be listened to with a pedagogue in accordance with the procedures and principles. The doctor, who received a report in forensic medicine, will be heard. There are a few issues. As Melek started her testimony today, she told the facts she lived in sobbing that she did not want such an incident from her mother-in-law and father-in-law. We heard some facts for the first time there and we were shocked ”.
Expressing that the way the relationship started is sad and painful, Onaran said, “It is pleasing for us that it was given a short day. The court committee cares about the file, and the rapid trial process is hampered immediately ”.
Melek İpek’s father, Menderes Çelik, underlined that he trusts in justice and said, “I always stand behind my daughter and my children. He said, “God should not give it to anyone”.
