A revolutionary decision is about to come from IFAB, which is also known as the institution that writes the rules of football, regarding the narrow offside, which has been the subject of discussion in many countries recently.
NEW RULE: OFFSIDE IF THE ENTIRE BODY IS INVOLVED
Especially after the introduction of VAR technology into football, goals that were canceled even with 1-2 cm caused the objections of many teams, while IFAB took new suggestions on the subject.
Accepting the new rule will no longer look in line with the opponent’s defense and body limbs for a player to fall offside. According to the new rule, a football player must be in front of the opponent’s defense with his whole body in order to be offside.
With this rule, discussions of getting offside on the line are also expected to become history.
