INGV announced that Etna’s activity ended at 19:00 local time, and stated that lava flows formed on the western and southeastern slopes of the volcano. It was reported that the ash cloud emerging from Etna rose more than 10 thousand meters. No statement was made regarding the damage and loss of life.
Known as Europe’s tallest and most active volcano, the 3,330-meter-high Etna was last activated on January 19th.
